This Campus serves as a prestigious setting for the hosting of international conferences, seminars, short courses and summer schools. It is also the venue of

Practical information

Malta has only one International Airport – the Malta International Airport (MLA), located in Luqa. However, the locality is sometimes labelled as Valletta (capital city) on some search engines – it is the same international airport. Book your flight to and from this airport, which offers a wide selection for international guests.

In Malta, public bus transport is generally well networked and will enable you to make your way around. More information available here.

There are direct buses from the airport to most locations in Malta, especially locations with high concentration of tourist accommodation, such as: Valletta (locality where the conference venue is located) – Bus X4

The conference venue, the University of Malta Valletta Campus (not to be mistaken with the Msida Campus!), is centrally located and can be reached by direct bus transfer from different localities as indicated here. More information here.

For those using smart phones connected to WIFI or mobile data, Tallinja app may be downloaded and consulted for real time information on the best routes and time schedules to arrive to a destination from any given location. The app is downloadable from here.

Bus tickets can be purchased on the bus itself – in which case it is strongly recommended to keep small change handy, e.g., €2 coins, €5 bill. The bus ticket prices range between €2 and €3 approximately, depending on route and time of journey. VISA card payments are also accepted.

For multiple journeys it is worthwhile considering purchase of block tickets or tallinja card. More information here.

Alternatively, taxis are also available from the airport and most locations, or by calling directly at the taxi companies’ offices, such as the one listed below:

Registration and payment gateway for the social programme (against additional payment) comprising a Walking Tour of Mdina (old capital city) and Conference Dinner on 15 February 2023, is now available here.

Participants according to COST rules will be asked to pay for lunch themselves.

Abstracts are invited from researchers and stakeholders to present works-in-progress or published papers, posters or other audio-visual presentations that stimulate discussion and debate and help discern and gauge trends, challenges and policies impacting young researchers, their futures; and related intersections with the present and the future of research and innovation. Interdisciplinary and intersectional approaches and perspectives are strongly encouraged.

The VOICES network will consider papers accepted for this conference for open access publication in one of the forthcoming scientific publications of this Action.

Abstracts of 200 words need to include, with 3-4 keywords and details of the author/s that specify affiliation, engagement/employment status in this affiliation and designation.

Only submissions made through this form will be considered for selection.

 

Criteria for selection include:

(1) Interdisciplinarity & intersectional approach

(2) In line with the topic of the conference

(3) Contribution towards policy

The scientific committee is tasked with selecting abstracts that show evidence of excellence whilst securing participation of researchers at diverse stages of their careers, with attention to the inclusion of young researchers, COST intensive target countries, and researchers with minority and intersectional backgrounds.

 

A limited number of participants’ travel and subsistence expenses can be funded through COST, subject to COST Regulations applicable at the time.

Kindly specify in the submission form if COST funding is required.

A limited number of self-funded presenters are also welcomed to participate.

No registration fees are applicable.
