As VOICES nears its final conference, members of the Working Group on Gender as a Research Dimension continue to actively contribute to European debates on inclusive research practices. Over the past months, researchers involved in the project have shared their work at leading conferences and expert forums, showcasing how gender, diversity, and intersectionality can enhance research quality across fields—from AI and prosthetics to biodiversity and innovation studies.
VOICES co-lead Anita Thaler, alongside colleagues from IFZ and other partner institutions, has presented across multiple international platforms. These include the International Gender Studies Conference in Porto, the Nordic STS Conference in Stockholm, and the STS Conference Graz, where the intersection of gender perspectives with technology, sustainability, and community-based learning was explored.
In Jena and Villach, her keynote contributions focused on how gender-aware research design not only prevents bias but leads to more robust and socially responsive knowledge production. These interventions align closely with VOICES’ mission to amplify early-career researchers’ voices while pushing for institutional change in how we teach, fund, and assess research.
This series of dissemination activities sets the stage for VOICES’ upcoming Final Conference in Paris (July 10–11, 2025), where the project will present its key findings and policy recommendations after four years of collaborative work.
